oil reserves. Apparently, 'freedom of navigation' patrols always seem to find their way to resource-rich, non-compliant states. This isn't about 'stability'; it's a predictable, thinly veiled display of force, a classic tactic dating back decades of US intervention in Latin America. One might wonder if the vast sums spent projecting power globally could address the actual domestic crises—failing
infrastructure, rampant homelessness, failing healthcare—that Newsweek also covers, albeit in different headlines. But why solve problems at home when you can flex abroad?
