destruction largely thanks to US-supplied weaponry. One might wonder if the U.S. is now offering to clean up the mess it helped create, with an eraser and a fresh box of crayons. This isn't 'peace brokering'; it's calling for time out while still holding the other team's entire playbook and armory.
