US Blockade Experts Condemn When Not Their Own
UN experts have *courageously* condemned the US naval blockade on Venezuela as illegal aggression, according to a recent Al Jazeera piece. How novel. One might imagine these same experts were too busy for a condemnatory press conference when the US imposed sanctions and blockades on Cuba for over sixty years, devastating its economy and costing its people untold suffering. Or perhaps they were on
break when the US supported regime change efforts in Chile, Nicaragua, and countless others. The hypocrisy is so thick, you could cut it with a drone strike. This isn't about international law for Washington; it's about control. Remember the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis? Blockade. Operation Eagle Claw in Iran? Blockade. The very idea that the US moralizes on 'illegal aggression' while weaponizing
maritime power against nations that simply refuse to bend the knee is a dark comedy. It's only 'illegal' when the US isn't the one doing it, apparently. This is not aggression, it's just 'freedom of navigation operations'… unless it's directed at you.
