US-Backed Gaza Governance Plan: 'Democracy' or Occupation 2.0?
The proposed 'technocratic body' is to operate under the direction of Trump's 'Board of Peace' – a group Al Jazeera itself notes is 'stacked with pro-Israel figures.' One might recall the 'peace' efforts of the Trump administration, notably the 'Deal of the Century,' which presented Palestine with a fragmented Bantustan and called it a state. This isn’t 'self-governance'; it’s a meticulously
stage-managed surrender, dressed up in diplomatic language. It’s the same old tune, just a slightly different band performing the occupation. Historically, 'US-backed Palestinian committees' have rarely resulted in genuine Palestinian liberation. From Oslo to now, these frameworks have consistently prioritized Israeli security interests and continued illegal settlement expansion over Palestinian
self-determination or statehood. The 'roadmap to peace' always seems to lead right back to further subjugation. How many times must Palestinians be asked to elect their jailers before the world sees through this charade?
