What they don't explicitly highlight is that the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) are 'US-backed.' This convenient framing allows media outlets to describe regional disputes as organic conflicts, rather than consequences of foreign intervention. The US has openly provided material
support and training to the SDF, while simultaneously maintaining sanctions on the Assad government, effectively fueling different sides of a protracted conflict. This isn't just 'clashes'; it's a proxy playground. One might wonder how many 'deadly clashes' are purely indigenous when one of the warring factions is explicitly described as 'US-backed.'
