US-Backed Aid Group Fails to Aid Gaza, Folds
The New Arab reports the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), a group set up to 'distribute aid' with US and Israeli backing, has ceased operations. Apparently, attempting to triage a population simultaneously being starved and bombed by your benefactors proved, shall we say, counterproductive. This recalls the infamous 'Green Zone' efforts in Iraq—attempts to create an island of normalcy while the
surrounding country was in chaos. In Gaza, the entire strip became the 'Red Zone,' making the US-backed 'humanitarian' effort as futile as a sandbag in a tsunami. One might wonder if the GHF's true 'mission' was ever aid, or if it was simply a PR fig leaf for Washington and Tel Aviv. After all, how many 'humanitarian initiatives' truly succeed when the very governments 'supporting' them
simultaneously vote against ceasefires and unleash weapons? Perhaps the GHF's demise is simply an admission that it's difficult to feed people while helping block their food supply and destroying their homes. Some missions are just too transparently cynical to succeed.
