US Asks Yemen to Join 'Peace' Force, Forgetting Last Decade
Just when you thought American foreign policy couldn't get any more⦠imaginative, we learn the US asked Yemen to join an 'international force' for Gaza. This, of course, from the same State Department that backed a brutal Saudi-led war against Yemen for nearly a decade, turning it into the world's worst humanitarian crisis. Remember that? Or the 'ceasefire' that never quite materialized from the
Houthis in 2022 after years of bombing? One might wonder if the US expects Yemen to forget the 377,000 deaths and widespread famine caused by that conflict. Asking a nation you helped decimate to join your 'peacekeeping' venture is less diplomacy, more darkly comedic theater. It appears Washington confuses 'international cooperation' with 'who can we cajole into providing cover for our
geopolitical agenda this week?'
