The US, fresh from greenlighting another $14 billion in aid to Israel, now suggests an 'international force' to secure Gaza. This, of course, comes after months of Israel's military operations, which have razed infrastructure and displaced nearly two million Palestinians. One might recall similar 'peacekeeping' efforts in Lebanon, following Israeli incursions, which often served to legitimize
rather than resolve. The hypocrisy is particularly rich when considering how quickly the US dismissed any international oversight for its own military operations. This 'international solution' appears to be another chapter in a long history of external powers dictating the future of Palestinians. It’s less about protection and more about control—control over a population systematically
dispossessed. Critics might reasonably wonder if this 'international force' will be tasked with protecting civilians, or merely ensuring the stability of a new, US-approved administrative structure post-destruction.
