US Aid: Where Are Our Airstrike Condemnations?

While every civilian death is a tragedy, the outrage from Western capitals appears curiously absent when the perpetrators are US allies, or worse, recipients of lavish US military aid. We hear endless hand-wringing over 'proxy wars,' but little on the children killed by our proxies' direct actions. This
silence stands in stark contrast to the immediate, full-throated condemnation and calls for UN intervention when a less conveniently aligned nation is involved. One might wonder if the children of Afghanistan, recipients of decades of 'nation-building' and 'democracy promotion' (complete with drone strikes), simply don't rate on the global empathy scale.
