US Aid Keeps Flying to Gaza, Except the Rescue Teams
Mainstream media will report the numbers, perhaps a poignant story or two. What they won't typically highlight is the stunning disconnect: Rep. Steny Hoyer (D-MD), who took $120,500 from AIPAC in 2022 and another $10,000 this cycle (OpenSecrets.org), recently voted for HR 815, allocating $14.1 billion in military aid to Israel. This, while rescue operations are crippled by fuel shortages and
destroyed infrastructure, directly impacted by the very aid he champions. One wonders if any of that 'aid' includes search-and-rescue teams. So, while Gaza's Civil Defence spokesperson, Mahmoud Bassal, pleads for equipment to find the living and retrieve the dead—a humanitarian crisis by any measure—our elected officials prioritize replenishing the arsenal that created the rubble. It's a grotesque
equation: billions for bombs, nothing for the bodies they bury. Perhaps the next aid package will include a shovel.
