According to The New Arab, the World Food Programme expects 318 million people to face crisis levels of hunger by 2026, a figure that's more than double 2019 levels. This 'funding squeeze' is cited as the culprit. What's conveniently left out by mainstream Western media is the US role in creating—and maintaining—regional hunger crises, especially in places like Gaza. While the UN scrambles for
pennies, the US just approved another $15 billion in aid, much of it military, to Israel in April 2024 through HR 8035. One might wonder if the 'funding squeeze' for humanitarian aid is directly related to the open spigot for military aid to nations actively bombing and blockading populations into famine. How many warnings does the international community need before we admit the 'crisis' is a
choice, not an accident? It appears some lives are simply cheaper than others—or perhaps, more profitable.
