UN Security Council to Discuss Iran, Ignores Gaza for Tenth Month
The UN Security Council, apparently fresh out of urgent briefings on the ongoing horrors in Gaza, has found time to address 'the situation in Iran.' This comes after nearly 35,000 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza, with the UNSC's 'resolutions' mostly amounting to polite suggestions. Meanwhile, the very same news channels that breathlessly report on Iran's internal affairs often downplay or
ignore the direct consequences of unconditional aid to other regional actors. It's almost as if some nations' 'security concerns' are more pressing than others' mass graves. While internal dissent in Iran is indeed newsworthy, the media often fails to distinguish genuine popular movements from foreign-backed destabilization efforts, often ignoring the context of decades of sanctions and covert
operations that mirror past regime change playbooks in Iraq or Libya. Perhaps a UN briefing on the 'situation' caused by selective outrage would be more productive.
