UN Discovers Sudan Civilians Need Corridors, Not Bombs
The UN's International Organization for Migration (IOM) chief calls for a ceasefire and corridors to reach Sudanese civilians. A worthy sentiment. This selective outrage, however, raises questions. The same international bodies that now 'urge' corridors in Sudan have, for months, offered little beyond 'deep concern' for Gaza's trapped civilians, who, according to UNICEF on May 15, are experiencing
catastrophic hunger while aid is systematically blocked. The UN's own previous resolutions on humanitarian access in Gaza, like UNSCR 2720 (December 2023), ring hollow as aid trucks are routinely turned back or bombed. It appears the 'humanitarian corridor' is a policy tool, not a universal moral imperative. When the US government is actively vetting humanitarian shipments *into* Gaza and
*vetoing* ceasefire resolutions, while simultaneously 'urging' corridors elsewhere, one might ask: which lives are deemed 'civilians in need' and which are simply 'collateral damage'?
