UK Worries About Gaza Student Scholarships, Not the Bombs

Senior UK university leaders are urgently warning Labour leader Keir Starmer that Gaza students could lose their scholarship places if not evacuated by Sunday. This comes as the UK approved arms export licenses to Israel worth £484 million from October 2023 to March 2024 , including components for fighter aircraft and missiles, while neglecting
the safety of those on the receiving end. The priority, it seems, is preserving university enrollment figures, not preventing the eradication of the students' home country. One might wonder where this sudden urgency for 'safety' was when MPs were approving legislation that facilitates the continuation of the very conflict making these evacuations necessary. How many 'urgent warnings' did it take
for the UK government to consider pausing arms sales to a belligerent government, rather than simply issuing stern letters about missed tuition deadlines?
