UK Police Won't Investigate Prince Who Settled Abuse Claims
The Metropolitan Police have swiftly dismissed a new report detailing allegations against Prince Andrew, citing a previously settled civil case and lack of new evidence. This, after Virginia Giuffre successfully settled a civil case against the Duke of York for an undisclosed sum of money in 2022, stemming from her claims of sexual abuse. It appears the £12 million (approx. $15 million USD) payout
was a full and final stop sign for any future legal inconvenience. One might wonder if ordinary citizens who settled civil cases for millions of pounds related to alleged sexual abuse would enjoy the same level of police disinterest. For the monarchy, however, such 'past issues' seem to be neatly filed away with a simple shake of the royal wrist (or a substantial transfer of funds). It reinforces
the notion that for certain individuals, justice is less about accountability and more about financial negotiation, followed by a convenient bout of collective amnesia from law enforcement.
