UK Government Can't Define Islamophobia, Can Define Arms Deals
The UK government is reportedly having a wee bit of trouble defining 'Islamophobia.' This despite the fact they've had no such qualms defining who can purchase £4.3 billion in weapons (since 2015, according to Campaign Against Arms Trade) from British manufacturers, even amidst accusations of human rights abuses. Funny how that works, isn't it? Perhaps the difficulty isn't in finding a dictionary
definition, but in acknowledging a systemic issue when one's allies and financial interests might be implicated. It’s easier to sell fighter jets to a kingdom accused of devastating Yemen—a record £6.5 billion since 2015 – than it is to admit prejudice exists within your own borders, let alone within your foreign policy. The hypocrisy isn't 'hard to define,' it's glaring.
