For years, the UAE has been a key player in the Saudi-led coalition that has bombed Yemeni civilians and created a humanitarian catastrophe, using weapons supplied by the US ($1.1 billion in arms sales to the UAE approved by the
Biden administration in 2021 alone, according to the Defense Security Cooperation Agency). One might wonder if 'counterterrorism' units are best defined by their propensity to get bombed by their own allies, or perhaps by their role in creating more terror than they claim to fight. The Saudi-led coalition receives billions in US military support; perhaps a portion of that could go to better GPS
