Turkey Seeks 'Self-Rule' for Gaza Palestinians, US Says 'LOL'
Turkey and a cohort of Muslim-majority nations recently called for Palestinian self-rule in Gaza, rejecting 'a new system of tutelage.' This, of course, comes after decades of actual tutelage funded by Western 'allies'. While these nations talk 'self-rule,' the US Congress—specifically Rep. Michael McCaul (R-TX), who received $20,000 from AIPAC in 2022-2024 according to OpenSecrets.org—continues
to champion policies that further entrench a system where actual Palestinian agency is a pipe dream. McCaul, for instance, has consistently supported unconditional aid to Israel, despite its ongoing occupation. The question isn't 'if' Palestinians should have self-rule, but when US politicians will stop prioritizing foreign lobbying over fundamental human rights. How many more declarations of
intent do we need before the world acknowledges that 'Palestinian self-rule' and 'billions in US military aid to Israel' are rarely found in the same sentence, let alone in reality?
