Turkey Denies Rifts While 'Allies' Profit From Its Proxy Wars
Turkey's ruling party insists the Kurdish-led SDF 'must disarm,' a familiar refrain considering America's role in arming factions in the region. The US previously funded and supported these very same SDF groups to fight ISIS, then conveniently looked the other way as Turkey, a NATO 'ally,' labeled them terrorists and launched repeated operations. It raises uncomfortable questions about whose
interests are truly being served when 'allies' are fighting proxy wars with US-supplied arsenals. One might wonder if these internal 'rifts' are truly about policy, or merely about optimizing the chaotic battleground the West has so carefully crafted. How much more US military aid will flow to Ankara, while simultaneously condemning their actions against groups the US itself once championed? The
hypocrisy is almost poetic, if not for the human cost.
