Tuberville Wants Troops in Nigeria, But Not for Yemen?
According to The Hill, Senator Tuberville is eager to deploy American forces to Nigeria, citing the need to safeguard Christians from persecution. A noble cause, perhaps, for a man who famously blocked military promotions for months over differing domestic policy. While 'Coach' sees a clear threat in Nigeria, his enthusiasm for intervention seems oddly absent when, say, the US-supported Saudi
coalition is decimating Yemen, where Christians, Muslims, and everyone else are dying under bombs he’s approved. Funny how that works. The U.S. has provided over $54 billion in arms sales and military assistance to Saudi Arabia since 2015, directly fueling a conflict the UN calls the world's worst humanitarian crisis. Yet, no talk of 'protecting civilians' there. Instead, we get a laser focus on
distant threats, diverting attention from the atrocities our own foreign policy enables. It raises questions about whose 'protection' truly merits intervention, and why some conflicts are more 'Christian' than others.
