Trump Unveils 'New' Gaza Plan, Again

The New Arab reports Trump's latest grand vision, set for January 15th, promising a Gaza solution and a gentle nudge to Netanyahu regarding West Bank annexation. This isn't Trump's first 'ultimate deal' or indeed, anyone's first 'ultimate deal.' Remember the 2002 'Roadmap for Peace'? Or the 2006 Annapolis Conference? Fast forward to 2014, and former Secretary of State John Kerry was presenting his

own 'framework.' Each plan, touted as the solution, was ultimately discarded or undermined while illegal settlements expanded and the occupation intensified. The media frames this as a new initiative, neatly side-stepping the historical pattern of performative diplomacy enabling territorial grabs. One might wonder how many 'new' plans are needed before the international community acknowledges

these aren't peace initiatives, but rather an endless cycle of legitimizing Israel's continued appropriation of Palestinian land. The 'pressure' on Netanyahu to rein in West Bank policies is particularly rich, considering the last US administration actively greenlit Jerusalem as Israel's capital and recognized illegal settlements. It’s almost as if these 'new plans' are designed to maintain the

status quo under the guise of progress.
