Washington's bipartisan foreign policy consensus has consistently demonized any outreach to figures like Putin, preferring sanctions and proxy wars over dialogue.
(Remember the Minsk Accords? Neither does the media.) This 'news' conveniently forgets that for years, the establishment pushed for endless escalation, pouring billions into proxy conflicts while condemning any talk of de-escalation as 'appeasement.' Now, a former President attempting direct talks is framed as a spectacle, not a potential off-ramp. One might wonder, how many more arms packages and
shattered ceasefires must we endure before 'talking' becomes less controversial than 'fighting to the last Ukrainian'?
