This selective application of "national security" isn't new; Trump's administration famously initiated the original ban, which conveniently sidestepped nations
linked to 9/11 hijackers while hitting others based on convenience, not credible threats. It’s almost as if some nations are too important (or too wealthy) to ever be implicated in 'hostile' activities, regardless of documented human rights abuses or proxy wars. One might wonder if America's strategic oil deals or arms sales to Riyadh consistently outweigh any concerns about, say, journalist
dismemberment, or the destabilization of an entire region. The 'shooting' is the pretext; the targeted countries are the usual suspects, conveniently devoid of powerful Washington lobbyists or vast petrodollars. How many 'national security' crises do we need before we acknowledge the selective outrage?
