This isn't the first time an American president has outsourced foreign policy to Gulf potentates. While the media paints this as diplomacy, one might recall Trump's prior assessment of MBS following Jamal Khashoggi's dismemberment:
'The crown prince is running things over there... if anybody was going to be, it would be him.'
