Trump Promises Rescue for Iranian Protesters, Not So Much for Yemenis
While Trump promises 'rescue' for Iranians, one might recall his administration's enthusiastic support for Saudi Arabia, notorious for its own brutal crackdown on dissent and its devastating war in Yemen. In 2018, the Trump administration approved a whopping $8.1 billion in arms sales to Saudi Arabia , despite Congressional protests over civilian casualties in Yemen. (Source: Washington Post, May
2019). The 2018 murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi, a Saudi dissident, inside the Saudi consulate in Istanbul, by Saudi agents, also didn't trigger any 'rescue' missions or significant arms reductions. So, when 'rescue' is offered, perhaps it's worth checking which nation's pipeline or geopolitical chess piece is currently out of alignment. How many 'peaceful protesters' must die under
U.S.-backed regimes before American politicians even feign concern?
