Trump, ever the champion of the common billionaire, signaled he'd 'rather not' extend Affordable Care Act subsidies, effectively gutting access to affordable healthcare for potentially millions who rely on them. (The Hill, July 6, 2024). This comes from the same man who oversaw the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, which disproportionately benefited corporations and the wealthy, adding trillions to the
national debt. One might call it a consistent policy of redistributing wealth upwards. Remember his promise of 'great healthcare for everybody'? It appears 'everybody' meant 'everybody who doesn't need subsidies to afford it.' The narrative always centers on the 'cost' of helping everyday Americans, but never the astronomical price tag of endless tax breaks for the richest or the 700+ billion
