The New York Times casually reports that former Trump administration officials are now occupying military housing in the D.C. area, ostensibly to save on living costs. (Because apparently, public service doesn't pay the D.C. rent.) This arrangement, while not unprecedented, overlooks the glaring reality of who ultimately foots the bill for these 'privileges.' These are the same individuals who
helped orchestrate policies that saw hundreds of millions in taxpayer funds diverted to private defense contractors and who championed tax cuts disproportionately benefiting the wealthy, all while our own veterans struggle with homelessness. Now, the public is subsidizing their residential arrangements. It asks: For whom exactly is military housing designated?
