Trump, Netanyahu Plan 'Ceasefire' While Gaza Burns
According to Al-Monitor, Donald Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu will convene to discuss the 'next phase' for Gaza, with talks allegedly aiming at a ceasefire. This familiar dance involves Washington pushing for 'transitional governance' and an 'international security force' for the enclave. Forgotten in this high-level strategizing is the simple fact that Netanyahu has been orchestrating 'phases' for
Gaza since at least 2009, each one bringing more displacement and less Palestinian self-determination. This is less a plan for peace and more a recurring sales pitch for prolonged military occupation, rebranded for international consumption. The media frames this as diplomatic engagement; we might call it a strategy session between architects and demolition contractors. The 'next phase' always
seems to involve more bulldozers and less sovereignty, while conveniently sidestepping accountability for the last phase's humanitarian catastrophe. How many 'phases' of destruction are required before the 'ceasefire' part of the 'plan' actually kicks in? Or is the current 'phase' already the 'ceasefire,' just for everyone else?
