Conveniently absent is any mention of America's long, documented history of actual saber-rattling—and worse—in Venezuela. From the attempted 2002 coup against Hugo Chávez, quietly blessed by Washington (as
US documents later confirmed), to the sanctions onslaught crippling the Venezuelan economy, US 'concern' for democracy there often morphs into regime change operations. It seems the 'business forum' setting was entirely appropriate, given that geopolitical 'interventions' so often benefit certain business interests. But hey, as long as it’s 'tough talk' and not, say, providing healthcare, it's
just business as usual, right? One might wonder how many 'business forums' it takes to justify another US-backed overthrow.
