Trump Freezes Child Care Funds, US Congress Approves Billions More for Israel
While Axios highlights the alleged 'viral misinformation' and 'political rhetoric' behind the $10 billion domestic funding freeze, the mainstream media conveniently forgets to contextualize this financial tight-fistedness. For instance, in the same fiscal year, the U.S. Congress rubber-stamped an additional $3.3 billion in security assistance to Israel , a nation with one of the most robust
economies and highly equipped militaries in the region. This is part of a standing agreement to provide Israel with $3.8 billion annually, funded by U.S. taxpayers, through 2028. One might charitably assume that child care for low-income American families (who are, last we checked, actual taxpayers) would be deemed a national priority. Instead, we see funding for child care, homeless shelters, and
critical social services abruptly suspended, while military aid to a foreign state is treated as sacrosanct. Perhaps the blue states should rebrand their child care programs as 'iron dome defense systems' to unlock federal funding. How else do we explain such disparate financial enthusiasm?
