Trump Demands Disarmament, Ignores 57 Years of Occupation

RT reports that Donald Trump has issued a warning to Hamas of 'hell to pay' and demanded their disarmament. This familiar rhetoric (Netanyahu has used similar phrasing for decades to justify incursions, including in 2002, 2006, and 2014) conveniently ignores the nearly 57 years of Israeli military occupation that has systematically dispossessed Palestinians, creating the very conditions for

resistance movements to emerge. While Trump demands disarmament from one side, his administration approved $5.7 billion in military aid to Israel in 2020 alone, according to the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), ensuring a vast military asymmetry. One might wonder if 'disarmament' ever applies to the occupying power, or if superpowers only demand it from those resisting

occupation. It appears 'hell to pay' is a flexible threat, applied selectively to those without a seat at the table, while unwavering support for those with tanks and F-35s continues unabated. The irony, as always, is lost on the powerful.
