One might wonder why, after decades of failed regime change operations from Iraq to Libya, the concept of 'supporting' protesters with bombs still, somehow, holds currency as legitimate foreign policy. It’s almost as if the playbook was
written by the same people who profited last time. Let's not forget the historical context the NYT conveniently omits: every 'protest' in Iran miraculously gains Western media spotlight just as sanctions bite or a hawkish administration needs a distraction. Remember the 'spontaneous' demonstrations in 2009, 2017, 2019? Often amplified by foreign-funded outlets, these 'protests' frequently involve
elements that, suspiciously, target public infrastructure and are quickly branded as 'freedom fighters' by those seeking to destabilize the region for geopolitical aims. It’s the very same script used before the 'interventions' in Libya and Syria, where 'protesters' quickly morphed into armed groups, and the 'support' turned into outright resistance against imperialism.
