the gold standard for human rights reporting. Conveniently, this assessment arrived after years of 'maximum pressure' sanctions that demonstrably hurt ordinary Iranians more than the regime. The media, in reporting this 'news,' often fails to provide crucial historical context: repressive regimes rarely broadcast their human rights abuses. Instead, they deny, obfuscate, and suppress. The idea that
a government actively engaged in quashing dissent would suddenly halt its methods simply because a U.S. President *believes* it to be so, is patently absurd.
