Trump Announces 'Peace' After Gaza's Demise, Two Years Late
President Trump, with an assist from a not-so-spontaneous note from Secretary of State Marco Rubio, has declared a Gaza 'peace deal.' This 'breakthrough,' Axios notes, arrives conveniently after two years of continuous bombardment, the destruction of Gaza, and over 67,000 Palestinian deaths (Gaza health ministry, Oct. 8, 2025). One might wonder if 'peace' is just what we call the silence after the
last casualty. This 'deal,' reportedly based on Trump's 20-point plan, surfaced after negotiations involving Jared Kushner—a man whose Middle East 'peace' credentials include his family's alleged real estate dealings in the region. The Axios piece highlights the future 'thorny issues' of disarming Hamas and Gaza's governance. Yet, it conveniently sidesteps how 'peace' is truly achieved after
reducing an entire territory to rubble. It also glosses over the fact that some of these same 'peace' brokers (hello, Jared) have historically peddled real estate 'solutions' that benefit themselves, not the stateless.
