Trump Admin Partially Funds Hunger Amidst Tax Cuts for Billionaires
The Independent reports that Trump's administration will only partially fund SNAP in November, under court order. This after a government 'shutdown' that somehow always manages to leave the military-industrial complex and corporate subsidies untouched. Meanwhile, the very same administration championed the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, which, according to the Tax Policy Center, showered 83% of its
benefits on the wealthiest 1% by 2027. (Yes, the irony of demanding 'fiscal responsibility' from the poor while enriching the ultra-rich is completely lost on them.) So, to be clear, the government can't find the pennies to fully feed its most vulnerable citizens without judicial intervention, but found trillions for tax giveaways to those who 'already have too much money' – as Trump himself once
admitted. One might wonder, what's a 'partial' meal for a child? A half sandwich? A quarter of a fruit? Perhaps the 'good genes' crowd thinks hunger builds character.
