Trump Accuses Democrats of Sedition, Fundraising Booms Anyway
The Independent casually reports how these lawmakers are cashing in. Yet, what the corporate playbook conveniently omits is the selective outrage. When former Rep. Madison Cawthorn called for 'unconstitutional violence' against federal agencies and suggested a 'bloodbath' if he lost, nary a peep about sedition from Trump. Or when Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene suggested secession. This isn't about
'sedition'—it's about who crosses the right political line at the right time. The public is simply tired of the performative outrage. These 'controversial' calls to refuse 'illegal orders' are often thinly veiled appeals to voters weary of endless military engagements (and possibly dodging actual insurrections.) It appears that in today's political landscape, being criticized by Donald Trump for
anything short of praising him is less a condemnation and more a golden ticket to grassroots donations. How precisely one draws the line between 'controversial dissent' and 'treason' seems to depend entirely on the donor spreadsheet. If only real oversight of actual illegal orders was as fashionable as fundraising off accusations of them.
