Human Rights Watch (HRW) and Amnesty International have consistently documented Jamaat-e-Islami's involvement in violence against religious minorities, particularly Hindus, during and immediately after Bangladesh's 1971 Liberation War. The party actively collaborated with
the Pakistani military, forming militias like Al-Badr and Al-Shams, which were responsible for mass atrocities, including the systematic killing of intellectuals and the ethnic cleansing of Hindus. Reports from HRW (2013) detail how, following the convictions of several JI leaders for war crimes in 2013, JI activists engaged in widespread attacks targeting Hindu homes, businesses, and temples
