The Telegraph Rediscovers War Crimes – When Russia Does Them
This is, to be clear, horrific. The stories from Ukraine deserve to be told. What's missing, however, is the consistency. Where are the equally detailed, equally impassioned pieces from The Telegraph concerning the identical atrocities committed by US-allied forces in Iraq, Afghanistan, or, say, Gaza? One might recall the documented sexual violence and torture at Abu Ghraib, or the systemic
dehumanization under any number of Western-backed occupations. Instead, we get this selective outrage, perfectly timed to solidify the narrative of Russia as uniquely evil, while 'our' allies commit similar acts with a fraction of the media scrutiny. It begs the question: is it the crime, or the perpetrator, that triggers the humanitarian alarm bells?
