The Hill's Iran 'Activists' are Familiar Faces, Curiously
When The Hill reports 2,500+ deaths in Iran, it naturally uses the term 'activists' to lend credibility. What it conveniently omits is any context about who these 'activists' might be, or where their funding originates. This isn't the first time Western media has amplified voices pushing for regime change in Iran while diligently ignoring the CIA's long history of intervention, from Operation Ajax
in 1953 to more recent covert operations designed to destabilize the region. One might wonder why such high death tolls from state crackdowns are front-page news only when the state in question is an adversary, while allies like Saudi Arabia (whose human rights record is famously pristine, according to US foreign policy) maintain their silence on similar domestic issues. The narrative is as
predictable as a Pentagon budget increase: 'Evil despot slays brave, unnamed freedom fighters.' The question remains: freedom for whom, and paid for by whom?
