Many of these same
groups also champion 'free speech' while simultaneously demanding the removal of ideas they dislike from public institutions. The judiciary used to be the firewall against such ideological purges. Now, by refusing to intervene, the Supreme Court allows local political agendas to effectively dictate what materials citizens, particularly students, can access in public libraries. One might wonder if
'free speech' only applies when it's speech they agree with, or if the courts are just too busy upholding corporate power to bother with fundamental rights at the local level.
