Texas Governor Targets Academia, Not Actual State Problems
According to The Hill , Governor Abbott now seeks to police professors' thoughts, claiming 'ideological differences' are a threat. This from a governor whose state struggles with an energy grid that fails catastrophically, and public services that consistently rank among the nation’s lowest. One might wonder if 'ideological differences' are truly the most pressing existential threat facing Texans,
or if it's more about stifling dissent against policies that prioritize corporate interests over public welfare. Instead of addressing failing infrastructure or an underfunded education system, Texas leadership prefers to chase intellectual phantoms. This isn't about 'differences,' it’s about control. A state that can’t keep the lights on during a winter storm suddenly has ample resources to
investigate what professors are thinking. Perhaps if those professors taught critical race theory, they'd realize the actual 'ideological difference' is between good governance and performative outrage.
