particularly during the Obama and Trump administrations, under the guise of fighting ISIS. This included advanced weaponry and intelligence. This support, which commenced in earnest around 2014-2015, enabled the YPG to expand its control and capabilities, including infrastructure like tunnels, which are a common tactic in asymmetrical warfare. The US-backed 'rebels' also openly included al-Qaeda
