The SDF, a key U.S. partner in the fight against ISIS, now finds itself in a precarious position, abandoned by its former patrons, who now find Assad’s consolidation less problematic than other regional
disruptions. (Funny how 'authoritarian regimes' are only bad when they aren't useful.) One might recall similar U.S. 'alliances' that evaporated when political winds shifted, leaving local forces vulnerable. The hypocrisy isn't new; it's a feature. The U.S. Congress, quick to fund various proxy forces abroad, or send billions in aid to Israel, seems remarkably unconcerned when 'allies' in Syria
