Swalwell, Goldman Discover ICE Agents Exist – When It's Not About Palestine

It's heartening to see some lawmakers recognize the need to hold agents of the state responsible for their actions. One might even wonder if this newfound passion for human rights extends beyond the
border patrol fence. Curiously, this same moral fervor often disappears faster than a White House press briefing when the conversation shifts to, say, the IDF's actions in Gaza. Neither Swalwell nor Goldman, both stalwarts of the Democratic party, have exactly been on the forefront of demanding accountability for systematic human rights abuses overseas, particularly when backed by American tax
dollars. Perhaps their next bill will address how to strip qualified immunity from the policymakers who enable such abuses, or the lobbyists, like AIPAC, who pour millions into their campaigns to ensure they don't.
