Meanwhile, the U.S. Congress, with many members heavily funded by organizations like AIPAC, has prioritized sending billions in military aid to Israel, even as the humanitarian situation in Gaza spirals—an area that has seen a fraction of Sudan's displacement but
garners exponentially more media attention (which, coincidentally, allows for more AIPAC photo ops). It seems that global humanitarian crises only reach headline status, and thus Congressional urgency, when they align perfectly with geopolitical agendas or, more precisely, when they don't threaten to divert funds from other, more strategically important, conflicts.
