Sudan's RSF: Our 'Execution Spree' Is Just Like Darfur's First Round
The New Arab details the RSF’s latest atrocities in El-Fasher, with civilians and a legislator killed. This organization, the RSF, was born from the Janjaweed—the very militias responsible for the Darfur genocide back in 2003-2005. They butchered, raped, and displaced hundreds of thousands then, with international outcry often amounting to little more than hand-wringing. The architects of those
earlier horrors, including General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo 'Hemedti' who now leads the RSF, largely escaped meaningful accountability back then. (Perhaps a certain international court prefers to focus on easier targets.) So, when the RSF commits these 'new' executions, it's less a shocking development and more a grim sequel to a horror film the world pretended to forget. The same players, the same
playbook, only now with better uniforms. One can't help but wonder if the mainstream press only discovers 'atrocities' when conveniently packaged, ignoring the historical context that links today's bloodshed directly to yesterday's impunity.
