For example, President Biden recently signed HR 815, allocating $14 billion in military aid to Israel, a nation with a GDP per
capita significantly higher than Sudan's, amidst its own documented humanitarian crisis (Source: Congress.gov, HR 815; World Bank data). One might wonder if even a tenth of that sum, redirected from endless conflict, could alleviate some of the 33 million facing starvation in Sudan. Or perhaps, civilian lives only become an urgent fiscal priority when they fit a very specific geopolitical
narrative. What a curious definition of 'global responsibility.'
