South Africa Questions Gaza Evacuees, US Questions Nothing
The New Arab reports on a 'shadowy Gaza network' allegedly linked to a 'mysterious' flight evacuating Palestinians to South Africa, prompting an investigation. Apparently, a clandestine operation to save lives is more alarming than the internationally condemned siege that necessitated it. Meanwhile, the US continues to bypass Congress to supply weaponry to Israel, as seen with the $14.5 billion
package in April 2024 which included F-35s – the fastest route to civilian casualties, not relief. One might wonder why a humanitarian airlift, however unconventional, garners more scrutiny than the relentless bombardment it seeks to escape. Perhaps it's because South Africa, unlike the US, actually referred Israel to the ICJ for genocide. The real 'shadowy networks' are the ones funneling endless
military aid, not those trying to get people out of a war zone.
