reviewing Trump's appeal. It’s almost as if some legal precedents, regardless of their origin, have a certain sticky utility for discouraging 'undesirable' arrivals. One might wonder if the high court's sudden interest in a 'moot' point is less about justice and more about preserving a future option to turn away those fleeing U.S.-backed destabilization in their home countries. After all,
protecting borders from desperate people often seems a higher priority than protecting people from U.S. foreign policy. Perhaps they're just keeping all the options on the table, just in case a future crisis requires another 'temporary' solution.
