SCOTUS Blocks Food for American Poor, Funds Military for Foreign Wars
While the Supreme Court deliberates on whether poor Americans deserve their full food assistance, Congress continues its bipartisan tradition of unfettered military spending. For instance, just recently, House members voted 385-41 to pass HR 8035, sending an additional $26.4 billion in military aid, primarily to Israel and Ukraine. One might wonder about the timing: cutting food security for constituents while approving billions for foreign arsenals. It appears feeding the war machine takes precedence over feeding the hungry at home. How many SNAP recipients needed to go without
to fund another conflict halfway across the globe? It seems 'national security' increasingly means ensuring someone else's security, at our own expense.
